From The Bed To The Settee (And Back Again)

Ben Swithen I like this album a lot. It's fun, it's very human. I like how it delves into small, uncelebrated moments of daily life - a recipe or a shopping trip - and lets us experience them as something small but warm and precious. It keeps it intimate, even when it rises like an anthem.

There are some magnificent rhymes and well-crafted word-play. I'm glad every time I hear the conclusion of Jezza, a short coda to the first half of the record.

Good art, it gives me joy. They're worth seeing live, too. Favorite track: Thoughts While Walking To Euston.

about

Soup Review Sheffield, UK

Soup Review are what happens when South Yorkshire meets South Coast, when folk tradition meets anti-folk downbeat self- deprecation.
Chris Delamere is the son of a morris dancer. Mario D’Agostino arrived in Sheffield from Weymouth.
Together they write songs that masquerade as comic, but on closer listening reveal themselves to be a deep and poignant exploration of the human condition.
