Chris: I am easily riled by public behaviour that I perceive as having no sense of self-awareness or public obligation. For me, queues are an unfortunate by-product of polite society and one is duty bound to make the experience easier for all involved. When someone does not do that my irritability reaches fever pitch and, apparently, a song has to be written about it.

as the man in front of me 
double-checks and repeats

another look, another code

 the whole queue might explode here

there's no sense of urgency
or public obligation
 just holding up our lives
